Random string and UUID v4 generator

Create temporary labels, test fixtures, non-secret identifiers, and UUID v4 values without sending them anywhere. String mode makes independent draws; UUID mode sets the required version and variant bits.

How it works

  1. Choose random-string or UUID v4 mode.
  2. For strings, select a character set, length, and output quantity.
  3. Generate up to 100 values, then copy or download them.

Worked example

A UUID result such as 9d06a623-8df1-46cb-9b59-5a462f839d36 has 4 in the version position and 8, 9, a, or b in the variant position.

Limits and checks

  • Strings are 1–1,024 characters and batches contain at most 100 values.
  • Custom alphabets require 2–256 unique, non-whitespace characters.
  • These values are not passwords, encryption keys, access tokens, or guaranteed database uniqueness checks.

Your entries and results stay in this browser tab. This tool does not put them in the URL, browser storage, analytics events, or a server request. Regular site analytics may still load without receiving these values.

Frequently asked questions

Are these UUIDs valid version 4 values?
They use 122 random bits and set the RFC 4122/UUID version 4 and variant bit pattern. The tool does not contact a registry.
Can I use a generated string as a password?
Use a password manager for passwords. This generator does not assess entropy requirements, account policy, storage, or exposure after copying.
Do my entries leave this device?
No tool value is sent, stored, logged, or placed in the URL. Closing or refreshing the tab clears the current work. Regular site analytics may still load without receiving the values.
What makes the selection random?
The tool uses the browser's Web Crypto getRandomValues source and unbiased integer selection. Filters and constraints change the eligible set, not the chance among remaining valid choices.
